Brothers and
Sisters,
This week we will be meeting with executives from VSE Corp. over medical benefits for our guys at VX-1. In case some of you are wondering, yes, this has not been resolved. We have been trying to conduct business over the phone and email for the last few weeks and it has not worked out. Instead, we have requested a meeting in person which will take place on Thursday in Alexandria, VA. As I have said before our members are currently without benefits and we hope to have this resolved soon.
We also have some members of the organizing committee helping out the District on an organizing campaign this week on the Eastern Shore. The group we are trying to organize is a large group and a win here would do well to strengthen our Union. Our lodge is doing all it can to contribute to this effort and we are confident this will work out to a win.
We are currently looking for a day and night check Steward for V-22. The Executive Board will be appointing this position at our meeting on Sunday. Any V-22 members interested please contact Jason Mann (Chief Steward) or come to the Executive Board meeting at 1630 on Sunday.
Also, we have another edition of the PAX FAX coming out very soon. Jason Swift did an excellent job on our last one and I look forward to seeing the new one. Please be on the lookout on your bulletin boards or from your Stewards for the next issue hopefully in the next week.
Other than that, our stewards are on the front lines everyday representing our members. They are doing an excellent job and although many of us don’t hear about it, many issues get resolved successfully. We always hear about the negative issues that crop up, but trust me more often than not we resolve most issues.
I hope to see everyone on Sunday at the Lexington Park Library at 6:00PM. Until then have a good week.
In Solidarity,
Scott McCauley
